On Wednesday, June 21st from 10am – 10pm, public spaces in all five boroughs – sidewalks, parks and community gardens and more, become impromptu musical stages. Thousands of amateur musicians in every genre perform for the public at no cost.
June 21, 2017 is also the first day of Summer and is globally celebrated as “Summer Solstice” which also marks the longest day of the year. It is the day, the world gets the most sunlight in one day! Hamilton Heights will celebrate Make Music New York and Summer Solstice between the hours of 1 – 8 pm along Amsterdam Avenue, between 145th and 139th Streets. Musicians are requested to perform for a minimum of one hour.
Make Music New York is a truly unique celebration, a music holiday on which musicians of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels are empowered to perform in public spaces throughout all five boroughs of NYC, energizing the entire city in the process. Over its ten year history, Make Music New York has grown to become NYC’s largest one-day collection of free, outdoor concerts, all thanks to you and your participation!
