Councilmember Robert Jackson awards $1.4 million dollars for renovation to Aaron Davis Hall. A formal check presentation ceremony is scheduled on Monday, January 14th at 10:30am, when check will be presented to City College of New York President, Lisa S. Coico. The public is invited to memoralize this moment.
As the cultural hub of upper Manhattan and Harlem, Aaron Davis Hall is the only facility of its kind north of Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Its users include 35 community-based and national organizations, among them Carnegie Hall, Dance Theater of Harlem, Ballet Hispanico and Harlem School of the Arts.
The funds provided by the City Council will support projects to improve the building’s exterior, interior and infrastructure and make Aaron Davis Hall a more attractive and more advanced state-of-the-art facility. The investment will help make the facility a premiere Upper Manhattan entertainment venue and strengthen City College’s ties to the Harlem community.
